Functional Nutrition

A personalized, systems-based approach to hormone, gut, and metabolic health

A more complete way to approach your health

For many people, there’s a point where things start to shift—after stress, overtraining, under-eating, or life change.

Since then, your body doesn’t respond the way it used to.

Energy feels different. Digestion may feel off. Hormones shift. Recovery takes longer.

This isn’t usually one isolated issue.

It’s often a reflection of how multiple systems in the body are interacting—and adapting—over time.

As a functional nutritionist, my work focuses on understanding those patterns and building a more structured, individualized way to support your body.

Key areas of function

How key systems in your body are interacting—and where patterns tend to develop.

  • How your nervous system is functioning and how stress is influencing different systems in your body.

  • The foundation of how your body digests, absorbs, and makes use of nutrients—and a central influence on overall health.

  • How your body produces energy, regulates blood sugar, and utilizes nutrients at a cellular level to support overall function.

  • How your endocrine system coordinates signaling across the body, influencing cycles, stress response, and overall physiological balance.

How I approach your care

Assessment & testing

We start by looking at your full history, symptoms, and patterns.

When appropriate, functional testing can be used to better understand what’s happening beneath the surface.

This may include:

  • GI-MAP

  • DUTCH Test

  • Organic Acids Test (OAT)

  • blood work analysis

  • genetics

  • additional testing when relevant

These tools are used to provide context—not answers in isolation.

Nutrition

Food is the foundation.

Within a functional nutrition approach, we build structure around:

  • whole, nutrient-dense foods

  • adequate intake (not restriction)

  • digestion and absorption

  • sustainability over time

Supplement & herbal support

Within a functional nutrition approach, targeted supplementation and herbal support are used to address specific needs.

  • practitioner-grade

  • third-party tested

  • selected based on your individual physiology

  • time-specific and intentional

They are used to support the body—not replace a strong nutritional foundation.

Lifestyle

Health is shaped by your daily inputs.

Within a functional nutrition approach, we focus on:

  • stress and nervous system regulation

  • sleep and circadian rhythm

  • movement and recovery

Optional: virtual personal training

If desired, individualized strength training programs can be developed to support your goals and complement your nutrition work.
